Here’s another Photoshoot/Tutorial session I’ve run, this time it’s with Will’s new SLK in the scenic backdrop of York.
The first batch of images are all lit with natural light, as we waited for the sun to set before we could start with Light painting the car.
Light Painting is a method of lighting a subject using a constant light source (I use a bike torch) and long exposures with the camera. I’ve been lighting cars like this for a few years now and learnt the technique through trial and error, patience and a lot more trial and error!
Throughout the tutorial I explain the tools and method of Light painting while I photograph the car. Then, you can have a go at light painting yourself so you fully understand what is going on.
After that we’ll go through what I’ve done in Photoshop to get to the final results you see below.
